July 26th - August 1st

Tuesday, July 26th
My Bloody Underwear
at Foam - $5
Shellshag is Brookyln-based garage punk band that is fun for the whole family. Minimalistic and catchy, you will be humming these songs on the way to work the next morning. You won't be able to resist the rockin' power of Shellshag.

Thursday, July 28th
Sweat
at Foam
I feel like I say this a lot, but Minneapolis seriously has one the best music scenes on the planet. Everything that comes out of there is so solid. Touchers and Wild Combo feature members from pretty much every awesome MPLS band you can think of, so you know this is going to rip.

Friday, July 29th
Herr/Bobo Duo
at Schlafly Tap Room - FREE
You're favorite garage boys, The Brainstems, return from tour so come show them some love. When you play at Schlafly, you get food half off, which is sick for these bands, because their food is great. I had the falafel sandwich last time, highly recommend it.

Sunday, July 31st
Fried E/M
Glowing One
at The Skate Church/Sk8 Liborius/Whatever they call it - $10
CCTV is one of my favorite bands in the entire world. And that's not faux-promotion bullshit either. I legit listen to their music almost every day. I love that band. I would pay ten dollars just to see them. But for that price, you will get them, wild'n'out punx Bugg and super rad Accidente from fucking Spain. Holy fuck. This is going to be wild. Bring your board, bro!

Monday, August 1st
at CBGB - $5
Noisy punk heartthrobs Drool from Chicago finishes up their July tour in St. Louie. Deranged and energetic, Drool packs a big punch that can be felt from every direction. You would be a fool if you missed out on Drool.

Pop Pop Pop
Vanilla Poppers
Lumpy & the Dumpers
The Stranger
Cujo
at Bolozone - $5
Are you punks fucking kidding me? I am running out of money. Just take a break from putting on rad shows for like a week, maybe? I'm running dry over here. Anyways, Vanilla Poppers is a crazy punk group from Cleveland and they are ready to rock your world. Also Bolozone looks much nicer, from what I've heard. Definitely worth checking that out. Oh and The Stranger is my new favorite STL band so make sure you check that out. Matt Stuttler is "unhinged."

Vats
Sunday Candy
Janet
(nameless new band)
at Foam
Vats is a super scintillating post-punk sensation from Seattle. Heavy on the fuzz over the thick bass lines, Vats brings a raw punch into their doom and gloom post punk sound. Highly recommend if you enjoy having nightmares.

When Swear Beam came together, I thought this super-group was going to be too good to be true. Thank god I was wrong. It is true, Swear Beam is fucking awesome. Now it is finally time for the release of their debut self-titled album. Buy it.

Lars
No Aloha

Woah this is a lot. Thanks to the Durham kids and that Lumpy guy, we got ourselves a mini-fest of some sorts. Pinkwash, you remember them, punishing noise punks from Philly. 0% and The Monoliths, two punk groups from fucking Denmark. Plus three locals This is only 7 doll hairs. Jesus.

If you missed these two bands the last time they were in town, this is your chance to redeem yourself for the mistakes you have made. Tunic is a heavy noise punk trio from Winnipeg. You remember them from blowing the roof off at the Hardbody/Skin Tags release show. Constant Insult was just here last month, but they are back and are real fun rock 'n' roll.

Monday, July 25th
Brush Your Teeth
Dogbreth
Drawing Water
Falsetto Boys
Sunday Candy
at Foam - $5-$7
They're back and better than ever. Dogbreth is a pop rock band from Phoenix that recently relocated to Seattle. Even though they moved away from the desert, their music still provides that sunny smile sound that warms your heart.

Sunday, July 10, 2016

July 12th - 18th

Tuesday, July 12th
at 2720 - $10-$12
Most know him from his appearances on Tim and Eric, D.L. Hart has been making bizarre music and art for many years prior to appearing on the hit television show. Hart has something in his act to appeal to each and everyone of your weirdo sensibilities.

Wednesday, July 13th
No Aloha
at Foam - $7
Denton, Texas is home to some of the coolest punks on the planet and The Noids are just a few of those punks. Take-no-prisoners punk rock that forces the hair on the back of your neck to stand in attention. Bottomfeeders are some serious slingshot rock 'n' rollers from New Orleans. Psych riffs for days, you love it. This is my birthday; buy me an apple soda.

Yao Ming
at Blank Space
With all of the events occurring in last few days centered around police violence, brutality and the murder or innocent black men, this show seems even more significant. A stacked lineup come together to continue to show support and raise funds for those imprisoned from the Ferguson uprising.

Friday, July 15th
at The Nest - $5
Folk punk still lives in Garner, Iowa. Giving Up isn't giving up on this genre that had a solid 3 year run in the late 2000s. Come hang in the cleanest house venue in St. Louis. The Nest is the best.

Derek & Silvia Dadian-Smith
at Foam - $8-$10
Tatsuya Nakatani is an experimental percussionist, composer and sound artist from Japan that approaches sounds and music in a unique way. You will find influences of noise and free jazz combined with rock and traditional Japanese folk music. Nakatani uses convectional and unconventional items as instruments to create his custom sound.

Sunday, July 17th
Toupée
Youngest Child
Shitstorm
Glued
at Foam - $5-$7
Man, Toupée was one my favorite bands to come through St. Louis last summer. I am ecstatic to see them again. A hyper noise punk outfit from Chicago, Toupée is something you will feel fortunate to have bless your earholes and eyeballs.

Monday, July 18th
The Luminary presents:
Holly Herndon
Colin Self
at The Luminary - $15-$17
One of the leading forces in contemporary pop and electronic music, Holly Herndon makes her way to St. Louis, being accompanied by Colin Self. Herndon is a well-traveled and well-educated musician, taking her experiences from allover and giving them space in her music.

Monday, July 4, 2016

July 5th - 11th

Wednesday, July 6th
Chalked Up
at Way Out Club - $5
Each and every month, the Weirdo series keeps growing and growing. This month features Deacon Bill, thrash punks from Brooklyn join a lineup of some of my favorite experimental acts in St. Louis. If I don't see your face at this show, I will forever judge you.

Mangina
at Lemp - $5
I can't tell you a whole lot about this show because of the sheer absurdity of it all. What I can tell you, there will be puppets, there will be feline impersonators and it will be very out of the ordinary. Have fun and good luck.
three of us dark family

Friday, July 8th
Cohete
Lars
at Bolozone
Get your weekend started with heavy slammage. A couple young Chicago punks rolling through a place near you. They've got jams so hard, you are going to bleed from your belly button.

at Kismet - $5
I have quite the soft spot for black metal. When it's good, I'm all in. And boy, is Ethicist really good. Crusty, lo-fi American black metal from Cincinnati, Ohio. Ethicist adds elements of shoegaze and post-metal to their blackened stylings. Joining them is Kentucky's Cryptic Hymn, a blackened death metal outfit that you shouldn't sleep on. Also Stagorn vs. Laika, battle sets. Good luck, Jack.

Saturday, July 9th
The Christmas Bride
at Foam - $5
Three bands full of real rockers from all over who will come to Foam to show off their real rockin' tunes. Brother Gruesome is a grunge band from OKC that has some slick stoner riffs. Pudge is a rad punk band from New Orleans. Christmas Bride is a lame pop band from Chicago that uses homophobic slurs in their songs. Show up to the gig and tell them they fucking suck.

at The Heavy Anchor - $7
Four of the best experimental acts in St. Louis come together at The Heavy Anchor for a real good time. All of these groups are phenomenal, but I highly recommend Key Grip for anyone unfamiliar.
