Sissy Spacek is an experimental noise "grindcore" act from Los Angeles and they are one of the heaviest things I have ever heard. The average song length on their latest release Lead Their Exit is 29 seconds. 29 seconds of unadulterated intensity and power. Playing along side them with be Yowie, a legendary experimental math rock band from St. Louis. They have been doing what they do for a long time and better than anybody else. Also on the bill is one of the hottest acts in St. Louis right, Posture, a three-piece post-punk band. This show will be the release show for their newest tape, Never Knows Best.

Queequeg is a heavy pot of goodness from Oklahoma City. Two vocals, both yelling at you. How could you not love that? Joining them is punk band Babe Lords, metal band Heavy Horse and Za doing whatever the hell Za wants.

Coral Remains (formerly known as Styrofoam Sanchez) is an industrial noise trio from Oakland, California putting out some of the harshest yet well put together noise recently. Not to mention their eye-popping live performance. More Gorgeous is a post-punk trio from Chicago. Their new album Mortgages comes out August 7th, but they will have advanced copies for sale at the show. Joining them is Willis, another trio, from here in St. Louis. They are the best band in the world. On top of all of that, DJ LRVRL will be playing tracks in between sets.

The Deadly Vipers are an all-girl psych-punk band from Detroit (that kind of sounds like Black Sabbath). Their stuff is heavy and catchy is my favorite thing right now. The song Yada Yada is my new favorite song. They will be joined by Big Blonde, a surf-punk band from St. Louis and The Crisis, a politically-fueled punk band, also from St. Louis, that features Foam employees. Tip them heavily at the bar if you like their stuff. Tip them well regardless, actually.

Good ole folk punk coming to Foam on Friday night with Illinois' Old Fox Road and Texas' Dead Words. Also on the bill is locals Katy Maness, QU3STION! and the a very non-folk punk band LifeWithout. They stick out like a sore thumb on this bill, but it should only improve on the show.

Two excellent free improv groups are releasing completely improvised tapes on Friday at Pulitzer. Sun Bros is a trio of Joe Hess (Hardbody, Complainer, BRAINING) on drums, Sam Clapp (The Brainstems, Strong Force) on guitar and JJ Hamon (Demonlover) on homemade electric and acoustic instruments. Hess/Cunningham Duo is two-thirds of math rock band Hardbody.

Sad Magick is a punk n roll band from Arkansas and Spitwad is a garage-punk band from Oklahoma City. Both bands bring some sick riffs and and are definitely a guaranteed party. They are joined by the nasty boys Nos Bos and the wonderful Posture.


Saturday, July 11th
Box is a new shop on Ohio Avenue, right off Cherokee that's purpose is to be a safe place to discuss and explore a healthier sexuality. At Box, you can buy non-toxic sex toys, local art and literature about sex, sexuality, love, feminism and much more.
I Scream Cakes, Earthbound Brewing and Recess Brewing will be there with the goods they offer.
Stars Align is a monthly Astrology-themed dance party hosted by Jake Leech and Denise Ulett. At the event, you will experience live DJs, mini solar-return chart readings, a photo booth provided by Courtney Miller Photography and treats.
