New St. Louis Releases: May 2017

Glued - II
Gee willikers! Two tapes in three months? That's 8 new Glued jams just in time for summer.  These indie rockers have been killing it recently and are about to embark on an East Coast tour.  Roll down the windows and crank up the reverb, the Summer of Glued is upon us!
Favorite track: Eyes Forward

Sundowning - Self-Titled
Brand new fuzzy shoegazers Sundowning have been rocking the socks off of crowds since the start of 2017.  Who knew four punks could make music that sounds so nice?  Despite the flowery presentation and the catchy as all get-out melodies, there is a certain edge to Sundowning that separates them from the ever-growing indie rock and pop rock scene in St. Louis.
Favorite track: To Leave

Honeydew - Self-Titled
Unabashedly honest bedroom pop act Honeydew is sincere and witty. What started as a solo singer/songwriter endeavor from Nicole Bonura has evolved into a trio of folk pop glory.  With the addition of Andy Garces and Ani Kramer from The Vanilla Beans, Honeydew has become a fan-favorite of many people in St. Louis, especially of the sad variety. Honey-DO yourself a favor and check this out.
Favorite track: Drugs

Iron Bars - Demo
This kind of came out of nowhere.  Iron Bars is a new hardcore band that made their debut with this fast, punishing four song demo.  Straight up hardcore jams with sprinkles here and there of some real rock and roll licks. I know very little about this band, but I look forward to learning more.
Favorite track: Iron Bars of the Mind

Kenshiro's - Guts
Long-term noise punks, Kenshiro's, released a new single entitled Guts.  The majority of the track rides this chunky, off-kilter bass line, flowing in and out of bits of ripping guitar and manic hollering.  At one point, the song seems to get lost in itself and turn into noisy free jazz number of sorts. It's definitely worth a listen or 10 and should get you excited for upcoming tunes from Kenshiro's.

Griffin Trapp - Bout to leave ep 1
St. Louis is losing on of it's best boys.  But before he embarks on a 2 year Academic excursion to Norway, Griffin Trapp (Isabel Rex) has been releasing self-recorded solo songs on the internet. This four track bedroom rock EP is breath taking. Especially the first track Respiration Underwater featuring guest vocals from Nicole Bonura (Honeydew, see above). It actually took me a while to listen to this EP in full, because I kept replaying the first song over and over. Really looking forward to hearing more but not looking forward to Griffin leaving. I should hit him up soon.
