September 8th - September 14th

Tuesday, September 8th
Blackwater '64
at The Kismet Creative Center - $5
Henrietta is a very indie rock band out of Orlando. Their music is very catchy, wonderful and bouncy melodies and a vocalist that reminds me a lot of Andy Hull. They will be joined by STL indie rock buds Choir Vandals and Blackwater '64 and post-rockers Jr. Clooney and Staghorn. Also at the show will be 50 posters donated by Seth Rogers. First 25 get a free poster, the next 25 get one with a donation.
BRIC*A*BRAC
Sugar Rags
The Makeovers
at Bolozone - $5
The Makeovers are experimental punk group straight from South Africa. That's far away. This band absolutely rips and should play shows in front of a lot of people so it would be a shame for you to not show up. They will be joined by noisy indie poppers Sugar Rags, bringing all the sass.

Thursday, September 10th
at The Demo - $10
Black Pussy is a powerful southern rock band from Portland with riffs that will melt your face right off. They are on tour with another band from Portland, Ape Machine, that brings that real good alternative rock. Two local heavy hitters, Van Buren and Barewire join the bill for an all around rockin' good time.

In honor of National Suicide Prevention Week, The Heavy Anchor will be showing the film, To Write Love on Her Arms, the movie about Renee Yohe who was the spark for Jamie Tworkwski to create To Write Love on Her Arms, a non-profit organization to help those struggling from mental illness. Brief discussion with mental health recovery blogger Dave Wise after the film.
at The Heavy Anchor - FREE

at The Pageant - $35
Legendary comedian, writer and actor Patton Oswalt will be stopping in St. Louis for a stand up performance you are not going to want to miss.

Friday, September 11th
Ghost Ice
at Blank Space - $5 (free with Tu-Fest ticket)
Before Tu-Fest official happens, the kick off show will be going down over at Blank Space and what a line-up it features. Gymshorts, out of Rhode Island brings their surf punk jams for a guaranteed party. On top of that, the group of locals playing this show is stacked.  The most prolific noise musician in St. Louis, Ghost Ice, up-and-coming math rockers Hardbody, psychedelic indie rockers The Brainstems and punch-in-the-face punk band Veil.
