Pounding garage rock and roll from Detroit that is powerful and unrelenting. Kenshiro's are pumping out a brand new album for you guys. The dominant story of our city, culture, and country is easily accessed via mainstream media and popular entertainment. Wordsmiths Cheeraz Gormon and Stephen Houldsowrth dedicate much of their thought, actions, and writings to offering alternative stories and changing that narrative. In this unique public dialogue, Gormon and Houldsworth will offer their own original poetry and stories, and discuss issues of race, gender, sexuality, family, mortality, meaning, money, and whatever other issues are brought to the table by the attendees.

Tacocat is surf punk band from Seattle that has been one of my favorite bands for the last couple of years. Their songs are incredibly catchy and their lyrics are witty and passive aggressive while remaining uptempo and positive in their delivery. I highly recommend this show and this band.

Local improv duo made up percussionist Louis Wall and pianist/composer Nika Marble present a five act performance inspired by the novel Invitation to a Beheading by Vladimir Nabokov. The five performances will explore the themes of entrapment, positionality, perseverance, death, and transcendence.

Tyshawn Sorey is a percussionist and composer from Newark, New Jersey. At 35 years old, he is widely considered one of the most influential figures in experimental jazz of this generation. His newest group, Alloy Trio features himself on percussion, Corey Smythe on piano and Christopher Tordini on upright bass playing pieces composed by Sorey himself.
